Reviewing Social Media for ELT (Twitter)

    Twitter is the one of big application used by many people in the World. It have many review in the Playstore and AppStore. In this occasion i'll review twitter as Social Media for ELT.

It have strong connection between app’s purpose and student learning because this application can practice student skills, writing

Student will get feedback directly when they’re did their task and teacher will give a feedback with comment their task

In this application student will be read a story from teacher’s tweet and will be write if they have a some task. So, this application focus on higher order thinking skills

 

·         Ease of use

Student can open and operate the app independently

Actually they can do their task in this application, but sometimes this application will be more useful if only the teacher give the student task.

Student performence records and products are saved and easily shared. This application have a link from their tweet, so it can be easier to sharing their performance

This application accessible on all mobile phone and tablet performance (e.g., iOS and Android)

 

·         How to use / apply in ELT

As teacher we can use this application for give the student some story (reading or video) and shared to the student. We can use this application for teaching reading and writing skills.

        - Can’t open student account if the student locked their account

Twitter is vey effective to practice students writing and reading skills, because this application more focused on writing and reading (story from teacher). And then for listening and speaking not too useful for teacher beacuse will be rarely use some video for learning activities (twitter have limitations if upload some video). Actually twitter can be use for speaking with space, but I think it’s not useful for them, because it seems like only call together.
